St David’s Heritage Leaflet

The Froncysyllte history trail leaflet was developed as a detailed self-guided resource to support visitors in exploring the village’s rich industrial, social and landscape heritage. Designed to complement the heritage boards, the leaflet mapped out a clear walking route linking key sites across the hillside and canal corridor, including former quarry locations, tramways, railway connections and viewpoints overlooking the aqueduct.

The leaflet provided deeper context than on-site interpretation, offering historical background, stories and explanations of how the area functioned during its industrial peak. It helped visitors understand how Froncysyllte’s landscape was shaped by industry and how it connects to the wider World Heritage Site story.

Importantly, the leaflet encouraged movement beyond the main visitor hotspots, guiding people through lesser-known areas and extending dwell time within the village. It also supported local engagement by making heritage more accessible and easy to navigate, helping both residents and visitors to better understand and appreciate the significance of the area.
