Chirk Heritage Boards

The Chirk heritage trail was developed as part of the Chirk Canal Celebration, offering a self-guided route that highlighted the town’s lesser-known histories and connections to the canal, aqueduct and wider industrial landscape. Using printed maps and on-the-ground interpretation, the trail encouraged visitors to explore beyond the aqueduct and into the town, uncovering stories of local industry, transport and community life. It played an important role in linking Chirk more clearly to the wider World Heritage Site, while also supporting the event’s aim to increase movement, dwell time and engagement across multiple locations.
