Chirk Heritage Newsletter

The Chirk heritage newsletter was a dual-purpose printed leaflet developed as part of the Chirk Canal Celebration, combining a self-guided heritage trail with an event programme. Created by local historian Graham Greasley, the leaflet mapped out key locations across Chirk, highlighting lesser-known stories, historic sites and the town’s connections to the canal, aqueduct and wider industrial landscape.

Alongside the heritage content, the leaflet also functioned as a practical guide to the event, providing information on activities, timings and locations. This helped visitors navigate the celebration while encouraging them to explore beyond the main event areas and into the town itself.

By combining storytelling with wayfinding and event information, the leaflet supported both heritage interpretation and visitor movement. It also ensured that local knowledge was embedded within the experience, strengthening the connection between the event, the community and the wider World Heritage Site.
